I always enjoyed cooking with gas at my grandmother's rather than on our more modern electric cooker as it seemed you could more finely adjust the heat for superior cooking results.
However times have changed, electric stoves are increasingly sophisticated, and while electricity can and should be 'renewable', gas is of concern as a fossil fuel energy source.
Sadly, the Federal Government is continuing to promote a Gas Led Recovery to stimulate the economy. Gas is seen as a transition fossil fuel as we transition to ultimately a fossil fuel free energy future.
However gas due to fugitive emissions can have a greenhouse potential equivalent to coal. As placards at the recent School Strike for Climate said, 'Fund Our Future, Not Gas'.
In a 'personal is political' context, early adopters are moving from gas to increasingly renewable electricity as their household energy source. I'm in the zone - keen to find out more!
